Select Work While at Monster Cable - Brisbane, CA

Monster Cable Website

Working at Monster Cable from 2000-2006 was a formative time for web development. It was the era of the "Flash Intro" and experimentation with wacky navigation schemes. One of the challenges with working at Monster Cable was the fact that they have multiple brands (Monster Cable, Monster Game, Monster Power, etc.) as well as issues with localization. Solving these issues was essential in developing a clear message. As the principal web person at Monster Cable, I developed as a designer, database programmer and team player.

Input-Role: Programming & Design, Custom CMS, Flash, Data Modeling and Integrations

Monster Flash Education Modules

One of the reasons Monster Cable has been so successful is that besides making great products, they do a lot of training of both employees and sales reps at retailers. During my time at Monster Cable, it wrote and created a lot of Flash modules either highlighting product features or demonstrating how to sell the products.

Input-Role: Script Writing, Flash, Audio Engineer

Monster $10,000 Photo Contest

With the advent of the consumer level digital camera came a huge opportunity for rechargeable batteries and camera cases. Monster Cable dove in. One of the promotions that we did in around 2002 was the "Monster $10,000 Photo Contest" where people created accounts and uploaded images in a Web 2.0 sort of fashion. Over 5000 accounts were created and many more images uploaded.

Input-Role: Design & Programming
Worked With: 2002 - 2003

M-Design

One of the side companies that Monster Cable created in around 2003 was M-Design which was a brand of home theater furniture meant for people who love audio gear. In the end, it looks like things did not work out so great as the site is no longer up.
